What’s Available
Simply visit Our Offerings to see which beans are available. The table will display all our spot coffees, as well as any coffees which we have afloat (sailing en route to North America).
All about green coffee
First we recommend trying out a free 200g sample of each coffee you may be interested in. Once you are sure of your selection, you can contact us at info@cabeycafe.com or +1-437-886-5922 and one of our reps will be able to get you set up and have your order shipped out the next day.
Of course! We ourselves would never purchase coffee before thoroughly cupping samples, so why should you?
Head over to Our Offerings and click “add to cart” in the right most column for each coffee you are interested in trying. From there, just fill out the shipping details and samples will be shipped within 24-48hours.
We typically ship 200g samples but can accomodate more if requested. Due to the number of inquiries we recieve, free samples are only reserved for established commercial roasters (no home roasters please).
Our coffee is packaged in traditional 60kg jute bags. We also add a protective polypropylene lining (grain pro), preserving the freshness and quality of the coffee.
Our minimum order quantity is one bag of coffee (60kg). All our beans come packaged in grain pro bags which helps extend their shelf life, allowing for smaller roasters to sit on inventory longer.
Yes, of course! We currently offer coffees which are Rain Forest Alliance (RFA) and UTZ certified. These can be found directly on Our Offerings.
Definitely. Along with our family in Ethiopia that operate our wetmill & export facility, you can find details about all the producers we work with by reading the Origin Stories.
Cabey Cafe was established to better serve the North American market.
Our goal is to help roasters improve their offerings with Ethiopian specialty coffee, without them having to navigate the complexities (and the cost) of importing – leave that to us!
We take coffee seriously as this has been our family business for decades. In Ethiopia we have certified Q graders which we employee to cup each and every type of coffee that passes through our facility. Once the coffee arrives here in Canada, we send samples off to get cupped once more in order to assure that the quality has not been impacted during transit.
We follow the standard Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) cupping protocols & cupping form.
Our coffee is stored at Everest warehouse in Mississauga, ON (near Pearson Airport). They are a HACCP certified food storage facility that offers both dry ambient and cold storage.
Yes we most definitely do!
Not only do we carry it, but our Yirgacheffe is actually traceable back to our familly wetmill.
Logistics from Cabey to you
Cabey will arrange to have the coffee transported via ground trucking (FTL or LTL) from our warehouse in Mississauga, ON straight to the dock of your roastery at the expense of the buyer. Given the economies of scale of our operations, we’ve been able to negotiate competitive shipping rates with our logistics partners. However, customers are also welcome to arrange their own shipping if they prefer. Pick-up from our warehouse is also permitted by appointment only and is free of charge.
FTL or LTL shipments must be palatalized – that is, stacked onto clean, dry, wooden pallets and secured with plastic wrap before being loaded onto a commercial vehicle. Our warehouse partners standard procedure is to stack 10 bags of coffee per chep pallet & to secure with shrink wrap. They also offer hand loading for pick-up orders where the customer does not wish to take the pallet.
Your coffee will be delivered via standard freight service to a commercial facility during business hours.
Before we ship out your first order, we will need to understand your order, prep and shipping preferences to ensure we can exceed your expectations. We like to keep a profile on each roaster which can be referenced any time an order is placed.
- Location Type – Commercial/Residential
- Loading Dock or Tailgate – Does your facility have a dock or will you require a tailgate? Tailgates are considered to be an additional service and will be billed accordingly (typically $30-$40 extra).
- Hours – Carriers will need to know if you will be able to recieve delivery during standard business hours (8am-6pm). Alternative hours can also be accomodated if need be.
Once the carrier arrives at your location, they will prepare the goods depending on the information provided to us as follows:
Loading Dock: The carrier will backup to the dock and open his trailer; it will be your responsibility to promptly remove the coffee. You will have 1 hour to do so (from time of arrival) before additional charges will apply. Carriers are usually carrying freight for multiple vendors and/or customers. This means they need to keep moving to stay on schedule in order to meet their service level agreements.
Tail Gate: The carrier will arrive at your location and will bring the pallet of coffee down from the back of trailer to the ground. It is still your responsibility to collect the goods from the curbside as this service is strictly just for bringing the goods off the truck to ground level.
Additional services including inside delivery and time-sensitive shipments may be available for a fee.
Coffee leaves our warehouse in immaculate condition. The jute bags are inspected to ensure there are no holes & the grain pro bags are secured with zipties. The coffee will be evenly stacked onto a pallet before being secured in several layers of shrinkwrap.
Please inspect the shipment to ensure there were no damages during transit before signing the Bill of Lading (delivery receipt) with the driver. By signing the BOL, you are accepting ownership of the freight as-is. If there are any issues, please note directly on the BOL & contact us before signing which will allow us to file a claim.
Unfortunately we are unable to offer returns on bags of coffee which have been opened. However, please contact us if you have made a purchase from us which did not meet your expectations. We will always try our best to make things right.
For first-time customers, our terms are ‘payment in advance’ of delivery. We are glad to extend terms on credit after an order history & relationship have been established.
Absolutely not! Remember how we said we are partners to you and your roastery? Once an order is placed, we can discuss our storage options so that you can spread out your deliveries. For a small monthly fee, we offer storage services for pre-determined periods of time.
